is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.
"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."
For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.
"A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do."
Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
"The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."
Been saying as much for some time.
I'm no shrink, but there are some serious psychological issues at play here.
Contemporary conservatism (not republicanism) has undergone no such takeover by anyone. It remains much as it has always been.
However, as a whole (and not true in every case), contemporary (leftie-molested) liberalism is demonstrating a marked tendency toward the disordered and disturbed behaviors typically evidenced by those who have so altered it:
Acute infantilism...
Malignant narcissism...
Perpetual rebellion against adult reality...
Confrontational mob intimidation tactics... 60's style street anarchy...
Contempt for the will of the people as expressed at the voting booth... Contempt for representative government and the vote behind it... (The lifeblood of liberty)
Willful ignorance of that which rebukes ones view progressing to ever worsening denial and all that comes with that...
Inability to lose gracefully...
Profound aversion to the most important of all diversities, that being the diversity of ideas, though it is supposed to be a sacred pillar of the whole "Progressive" platform, as is regularly on display anywhere such types post, and whenever liberals try (and fail) at talk radio for instance... Dreams of legislating away ones detracters in the name of fairness and "hate-talk"...
Shameless elitism toward and contempt for regular folks, for the concept of self determination, individual and family "empowerment", especially in the message inherent in the premise of a perpetual entitlement mentality and dependence on a nanny welfare state... (The Plantation)
Reckless tantrums when denied, progressing to mob rule, violence and even terrorism (in the case of an Ayers for instance) and support for terrorism and enemies within and without, the latter especially on the American campus...
Compulsive dishonesty from a presumption of superiority leading to a mentality of ends justifying means...
The self-sequestering and provincial self isolation in insulated bubbles surrounded by those who march to the same rigid, conformist dogma... Expulsion for any straying very far from the flock and plantation...
Cowardice in the anguish of progressive denial, especially regarding personal responsibility, morality and the lessons of history...
The compulsively proctologist's view of ones own culture and homeland, grossly fixating on the bad whilst mocking and belittling the good...
Contempt for the most honorable tenets of traditional liberalism, even to the point of turning them on their head in radical re-definitions and outright perversions of their original meanings...
Mocking disrespect for tradition and established order, tearing down established order if only to try and feel better about a miserable, empty and disordered life, and manifold self destructive, self mortifying and anti-social and sociopathic tendencies...
The romanticizing and eventually virtual wet kissing of the most brutal world thugs, communists, dictators and assorted other enemies of freedom and prosperity and democracy and hope, assorted other enemies of America and the west...
The re-writing of history and radical reworking of school textbooks to fit the fraud... To radicalize students and others into "useful idiots" toward bringing down the west from within... To subvert the dominant paradigm as it were...
The fanatical opposition to American energy independence behind the most absurd excuses, lest it enable further American success and exceptionalism, influence or dominance, since capitalism (free enterprise) is demonized as inherently evil, parading all the while as enlightened, evolved and Earth friendly "environmentalism", which could not care less about the environment, even harming it long term for the sake of the lowest of all causes, that being more power over the plantation of dependants...
The impetuous disregard for and denial of the lessons of history, especially regarding the size and role of government and the largely initiative killing and even genocidal results of leftist experiments like marxism and communism...
The way hatred becomes the defining impetus in ones life, lashing out at imaginary foes springing mostly from ones own demons and the disinformation campaign of the Perpetual Victimhood, Marxist Class Warfare and Grievance Mongering Slavemasters...
Totalitarianism as the true social manifestation of their inner bigotry, elitism and self righteousness... The tendency to lust for power over other people's lives...
The re-defining of words like patriotism, capitalism, democracy, tolerance, progressive, propaganda, torture, murder and life for example, to deceive, alter and poison the dialog... The coining of wacko terms like "social justice"...
The attempt to re-define, un-define and demonize age old social institutions like marriage and religion and family so as to tear down the last remaining hurdles to the Master Plan, knowingly or not...
The strong-arm intimidation tactics of schoolyard and street punks toward those who openly oppose or even question them as typified by Chicago style politics...
Vindictiveness, anger and extreme ill will toward opponents as another result of a child's emotional reaction to the world over the more reasoned, cool and logical view of an adult...
The inability to stand firmly for good and against evil thanks to the "warped and failed dogmas of selective tolerance and non-judgmentalism" stemming, in part from an inability to tolerate their own lives being seen in the light of day, the light of the lessons of history...
I could go on...
Liberalism has some real problems.
It has been molested by the left, which destroys everything it touches. Witness environmentalism. Witness education. Witness world history.
It is my hope that some open discussion might lead to a brighter, more healthy day for this once honorable house, but given the advanced nature of the condition, I'm not exactly holding my breath.
